Abhinav Bindra Becomes India's Second Goodwill Ambassador For Rio Olympics

Abhinav Bindra today accepted the offer from the Indian Olympic Association to become India’s second Goodwill Ambassador for the Rio Olympics. Bindra earlier in 2008 won a Gold medal in the 10 m Air Rifle event at the Beijing Olympics.

Abhinav Bindra tweeted, ” Received a letter this afternoon from the President and Secretary General of the IOA inviting me to be a goodwill ambassador. I am humbled that they thought I am worthy enough for this honour. I respectfully accept this with gratitude.”

 

The  Indian  Olympic Association was earlier criticized by many sports personalities for their selection of Salman Khan as the first India’s Goodwill Ambassador for the Rio Olympics.

IOA has also approached Sachin Tendulkar to be Goodwill Ambassador but, the former Indian cricketer has not responded yet.
