Special Seats for Women Passengers traveling Alone On Air India

Air India

Air India, has decided to reserve seats in an entire row, namely the third row, in Economy Class on its Domestic Flights for women passengers who wish to travel alone. These special seats, which can be availed by such women passengers, will come at no extra cost.

The details of the scheme which will start effective 18th January’17 are as follows:

  • The third row of every aircraft will be kept reserved for women passengers who are travelling alone and have a single passenger PNR booking. A woman passenger booked with a fellow woman passenger in a PNR is also eligible for these seats.
  • Women travelling with child will not be eligible for these seats. However those women travelling with infant can take these seats but without bassinets.
  • These special seats can be taken till 1 hour before departure for Domestic flights (D-1 Hrs). After D-1 these seats will become open for all passengers. However even then preference will be given to women passengers.
  • The scheme is valid for pure stand alone domestic flights, Hub N Spoke flights and Domestic legs of International flights where there is an aircraft change at the Gateway point. E.g. Scheme is not valid on DEL-BOM leg of AI 102 JFK-DEL-BOM as there is no aircraft change at DEL. But the scheme is valid on DEL-BLR leg of AI 174 SFO-DEL-BLR as there is an aircraft change at DEL.
  • A women passenger can request for such seats at any of Air India’s booking offices in the city or at the airport.
  • These seats will be shown with “Z” designator in the Reservation system and with “X” designator in the DCS.
