UPL Clarifies On Protest In Dahej After Government Disconnects Illegal Connections Of GIDC Industrial Water Pipeline

There have been media articles about the protest near the company’s specialty chemical Plant in Dahej, Gujarat. The company would like to clarify that the protest was initiated when GIDC (Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation) and the local government, with the help of local police, removed illegal water supply connection from GIDC’s industrial water pipeline by locals. GIDC provides the infrastructure for water, electricity, roads, drainage, etc. for the development of industries in Gujarat and Dahej is one of the largest industrial parks in Gujarat. The local authorities are working with the locals for the resolution of the matter.

At the Dahej site in Gujarat, UPL has implemented multiple social infrastructure development projects which include; construction & maintenance of schools, toilet block, community water tank, washing Ghats, skill development centre, social forestry, and mangrove plantation.
