War for the Planet of the Apes

War for the Planet of the Apes is the third installment to the rebooted Apes franchise. Following Rise and Dawn, War will see a planet very much ruled by the Apes.

The synopsis for War for the Planet of the Apes reads, “Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless colonel (Woody Harrelson). After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both of their species and the future of the planet.”

The franchise has had a history of using its cast members for one movie at a time and Warwill prove this once again. Several new faces will be on screen for the first time while Dawn’s cast are largely replaced. Joining this time around are Woddy Harrelson, Judy Greer, and Steve Zahn. Until the trailer’s release, very little was known about their characters.

Principal photography on War for the Planet of the Apes began Oct. 15, 2015, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

War for the Planet of the Apes opens in cinemas on July 14, 2017.
